GUANACASTE
Hotels | Tours
In
recent years, tourism has increased considerably to the area of Guanacaste,
mostly due to the opening of the International Liberia’s International
Airport, which now receives direct flights from cities like Charlotte, Chicago,
Miami, Houston, Atlanta and charter flights from Canada. In just a year, the
tourist influx has increased more than 100%. The beautiful and sometimes isolated
beaches along the coastline of the Province are what attract most visitors,
yet, Guanacaste is also a land of cattle ranches, sabaneros (or cowboys) and
volcanoes, being Rincon de la Vieja Volcano an area of great attraction where
besides forests and wildlife, one finds hot springs and bubbling mud pots.
The region is bordered by two mountain ranges. The Cordillera de Tilarán
and the Cordillera de Guanacaste provide splendid craggy backdrops to some
of the country's most beautiful countryside. The perfect time to visit Guanacaste
is, luckily enough, year round. No matter if you visit during the dry season
or during the wet season, both provide spectacular advantages. The dry season
affords the serious sun lover with plenty of tanning time, while the wet season
brings the trees into bloom with explosions of colors and fragrances. The
rolling hills become carpeted in brilliant green.
What to bring: When packing keep in mind the high temperatures and
bright sun. Hats, sunglasses and long-sleeved cotton shirts are important
when visiting parks in the area. Shorts keep your legs breezy as you hit your
stride on the trail. Comfortable trail shoes for the parks and sandals for
everywhere else should help keep you comfortable. Take plenty of bottled water
when hitting the trails and try to get to them as early as possible in order
to avoid the worst of the day's heat.
What to see: From the all-inclusive type of resorts with all kinds
of activities to isolated beaches and small boutique hotels can be found in
this area, let us know your preferences and we will help you choose the best
area for you.
Climate: If sun is what you are after, sun is what you will get in
this region. One of the most popular areas for resorts and spas, Guanacaste
is a golden spread of rolling hills and spreading branched trees. Temperatures
can rise to the mid 90's Fahrenheit with little breeze during most of the
year. The dry season here lasts from November on through April and cools down
a bit during December and January. Rainfall is not a problem for the better
part of the year, although you can experience showers and storms during the
rainier months.
