A Traveler’s Haven was founded in 1998, and throughout this time, we have served more than 2000 travelers to Costa Rica. Our company does 90% of its business through the Internet so we are committed to provide fast, reliable and informative service. We specialize ONLY in Costa Rica, meaning an in-depth knowledge of the country and access to information that most travel agencies outside of Costa Rica do not have.
We are a small team of young, enthusiastic Costa Ricans, who love our country and have the opportunity of sharing it with the rest of the world, by providing unforgettable vacations to our travelers. We want our visitors not only to take good memories from our country, but hopefully, to experience a once in a life time trip.
Oscar Saborío: Oscar is the company’s President. He’s a bachelor in Business Administration from a local university and continued his studies in Economy. Before getting into tourism he worked for important international companies like Florida Ice Farm & Co. He was presented with the opportunity of purchasing the Travel Agency business some years ago, and although at that time his involvement to the tourism field was minimum he knew it could be an opportunity to grow, and decided to take the risk. He wasn’t wrong. Together with Silvia, his business partner, they came up with new ideas and put together their knowledge and experience to develop vacation packages and trips with one goal in mind, offer reliable, information and personalized service.
Silvia Apestegui: Back when Oscar was offered the opportunity of buying the agency, Silvia was working at an outbound travel agency, where she had been working for some time. Oscar knew that Silvia, a long time friend, could play a key role in the company due to her knowledge and experience in the field and because of her desire to embark on a personal project. Silvia had no doubts, and enrolled with Oscar in the business. Nowadays, with two young girls, she divides her time among them and the office. She takes care of product development and new product releases.
Eugenia
Jurado:Eugenia remembers: “I began in the tourism business when I was only 19 years old. It was my first and only job”. Being a student in the University, I was offered the opportunity of taking a part-time day job in a travel agency, where I worked as an assistant for the General Manager. This opportunity changed my life, I learned about the business and got involved in the agency’s Sales and Operations Department. Since then, I worked as a Sales Manager for another agency for 9 years and then moved on to work also as Sales Manager for a local group of hotels, where I worked for almost 5 years. Then, the opportunity came to join Silvia & Oscar at Travelers Haven, which they had been running with a lot of success for some years. It was an opportunity I couldn’t let go” Eugenia is in charge of International Sales.
Eric Gómez: Eric’s a young, self-motivated, hard working person. He began in the tourism business as a driver for a Transportation company. During this time he knew there could be more opportunities for him if he devoted himself to work and to learn. Since then, he made sure to put special attention to what other tour guides said, began reading and studying on his own and finally went up to college and took related courses in the field of tourism. He learned a lot and never gave a step back. Nowadays, he and his wife own their own transportation company. Eric is with us a free-lance tour guide and helps us with logistics and new product development.
It’s funny how life is full of coincidences, as Eric and Eugenia went to the same high school, but didn’t see each other for a long time after time, meeting again years later when they were both working in the field.

SERVICES OFFERED
A Travelers’ Haven is a full service travel agency. Some of the services we offer include,
Guided Tours: Travel in a bus with a group of up to 12 passengers and a bilingual guide. Specific departure dates; some meals and day tours are included.
Self-guided Tours: we book hotels and a rental car or transportation services and you travel at your own pace. We have several options to different areas of the country and in varying prices from budget and standard to luxury. Day tours can be added to any package.
Customized packages: This is what we love the most doing! You give us an idea of what you would like to do and when, and we will set up a tailor made itinerary based on your needs and interests.
One-day tours: we can make arrangements for a wide variety of one day guided tours departing from the main tourist areas of the country.
Multi-day tours: we offer short guided trips such as rafting on the Pacuare River, boating through the Tortuguero canals and hiking in Corcovado National Park.
Hotels: we offer over 60 different hotels throughout the country, and we can reserve any other hotel not listed on our website upon request.
Car Rental: we work with three different car rental companies, two of which offer full coverage insurance with $0 deductible.
Cell phone rental: we can provide cell phones, which allow you to keep in touch with your office, family and friends during your stay in Costa Rica.
Local flights and ground transfers: since our goal is to offer as many choices as possible, we also make arrangements for local flights with the two local airline companies (Travelair and Sansa) and we arrange private ground transfers to any part of the country.
Guides: if you want to hire a local bilingual guide to take you shopping, give you a guided nature tour or just drive you around, let us know and we will arrange the service.
Groups and families: we offer discounts for large groups as well as villa rentals for families.
Driving instructions and assistance: we provide all our clients with travel tips and driving instructions for their own itinerary, as well as with assistance during their trip.
Rural Tourism and Eco-Tours: We can provide assistance in booking a trip that immerses you with the local culture, the people and their ways of life. We can make arrangements for you to participate in volunteer programs, language school programs and trips to Indigenous communities and rural locations.

LOCATION
Our offices are located in Santa Ana, heading east of San Jose in a quiet suburb that has grown rapidly in the last few years and just 15 minutes away from downtown.
Business hours are Monday thru Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (Costa Rica is 6-hr. behind Greenwich time) but we are on call 24 hours a day. .
