"Jungle Adventure"

A biking, rafting and kayaking combination that visits the Caribbean coast of the country. This trip will take you biking along the countryside of Costa Rica, rafting on one of Costa Rica’s most scenic rivers, the Pacuare, where you will even spend the night at a lodge on the river banks and will finish with a trip to the Tortuguero Canals, often compared to as the “Amazon of Costa Rica”, where you will discover it’s backwater canals on gentle kayak trip.

Previous biking and rafting experience is required and recommended. Kayaking experience not required.

Day 01: Arrival to San José’s Juan Santamaria International Airport. After clearing customs and immigrations our bilingual representative will be waiting in order to take you to your hotel in San Jose. Overnight at Hotel Grano de Oro, a jewel in the middle of the city. The hotel’s charm and coziness is the perfect start for this trip. Their International Restaurant is one of the best in town.

Day 02: This morning, around 7:30 am leave the hotel heading towards the city of Costa Rica, Costa Rica’s first capital and an important landmark to the country. A breakfast stop will be made in a small town called Cervantes and continues to “Angostura” an hydroelectric plant where the biking adventure begins. Bike through sugar and coffee plantations on a flat route with a mountain segment of dense jungle and uphills and nice river views. Tour passes by the town of Pejibaye and continues on dirt road to “La Posa” a natural river pool formed in the Pejibaye River, where you will have a chance to get in and refresh; then, its back to the dirt road to finish the tour, and for lunch at a folkloric local restaurant, after which, you will be dropped at the quaint Casa Turire Hotel in Turrialba, a place that recalls the gracious charm of a colonial plantation home. (BL)

Note: A support van is available at all times, with a cooler full with water to refill bottles when needed, along with tropical fruits, candies and a mix of nuts. Helmets are provided (we recommend you bring your own gloves for hygiene reasons)

This morning, 03 hour trip will help you appreciate the beauty of Costa Rica’s pasture lands and the countryside. Rest of the day is free to enjoy Casa Turire’s attractions, including beautifully landscaped gardens, canoe or kayak trips, or simply relax admiring the natural beauty and colonial charm of the hotel. (B)

Day 04: Today we say farewell to the town of Turrialba, and begin an exciting rafting adventure on the Pacuare River, a class III-IV river rapid escapade. As you submerge into this tropical forest, you are acutely aware that this is a place the modern world has seemingly passed by. The exuberance of the flora and fauna stagger your senses and urge you on to discover more of this hidden wonder that is the Pacuare River. After experiencing a thrilling adventure, we will arrive to the Pacuare Lodge situated stratigecally in the banks of the river. The guest bungalows and lodge seem as much a part of this rainforest setting as do the jungle’s fauna, frequently seen scampering within the jungle undergrowth or ascending through the rainforest canopy. (BLD)

Day 05: After an evening in the middle of the jungle, get ready to continue your rafting adventure! We’ll start of the Pacuare Lodge, down the Pacuare River, and experience some of the most thrilling river rapids in Costa Rica.
